Natural Resource Management

Towards addressing climate change challenges and improving structures for resource governance in pilot communities, SENCAB has commenced initiatives in the western region Ghana – Wassa Akropong – to address recognition and action possibilities towards meeting challenges of natural resource depletion. Particularly being a goldmining community, contamination and destruction of natural resources has been focused on by the SENCAB team, together with the Municipal Assembly and community multiplicators as stakeholders in the process of identifying, through sensitization sessions, the establishment of a multiplicator network towards action on climate change issues.
Initial programmes executed have successfully achieved the aim of sensitizing the pilot communities towards challenge recognition, supporting initiation of ideas towards natural resource conservation, as well as developing structures towards improving water and sanitation challenges in buttressing enterprise development.

Identifying Resilience Approaches - Nandom - Lawra Community

In the northern region, within the SENCAB pilot communities – Lawra and Nandom, deliberations have been initiated with the District Assemblies as partners in the developmental process of natural resource protection, particularly in contamination of water bodies with Agro pesticides, towards addressing possibilities to improve irrigation for bio cultivation and resilience strategies for dry land areas, as well as for the conservation of bio-diversity.
